They were fast, the limbs started to fall. The spotter had to get out of the way of the falling limbs.
They finished the first tree at the end of the driveway. Onto the next tree in the front yard. See the guy starting up the tree?
More limbs coming down. They brought their own chipper shredder, it was noisy.
The tree in the front yard is a biggie, maybe 100 ft high - he's still climbing. Can you see him out on the limb? I zoomed in, see the chainsaw in his hand? He is also safety strapped to the tree with spike attachments to his boots for climbing. This guy looked to be about 5 feet tall, about 120 pounds, if that.
He continues to climb and saw.
The spotter got the all clear the tree was done. They gathered up the limbs and dragged them to the the chipper shredder.
We have two pine trees in the backyard that needed trimming. He trims the top of this pine tree.
The spotters below were taking care of the low hanging branches.

Clean up time, drag more limbs to the chipper shredder.
What a fast and great job they did. All the limbs were shredded, they were paid and off they went. Bring on the wet snow this winter - we're ready!

I would have loved watching this. Your description and pictures were almost like being there. What a big job! How often do your trees need trimming?
One of my neighbors has a tree business. He's doing extremely well! Our wet summer and snowy winters have been good for that business.
Good you are doing this now. We took down a large tree next to our house several years ago. It was reasonable. During a hurricane we had a tree leaning over our sidewalk and the cost to right the tree and anchor it was double the cost ... tree damage from a storm always costs more because they are overloaded with work at those time and they can charge whatever they want if you have a tree down.
A job well done! It's always a good feeling when something that has needed doing gets done. Everything must look so neat and tidy now.

This was exciting and scary to watch. If the climber had fallen, I would have screamed and panicked probably. Thankfully, they're well practiced in safety. Cheryl, I'm not sure how often trees should be trimmed. We do our after damage occurs. We were going to do this in the spring, but time got away from us. My understanding is that trees and hedges are not to be trimmed in summertime, it could damage the following year's growth. We agreed it needed to be done before the upcoming winter because of the damage from last winter. In addition, we had everything else dead headed.
